Sevanavank is a 9th-century monastic complex. It is on the peninsula stretching into Lake Sevan. According to inscriptions, Princess Mariam has built the monastery. The peninsula has been an island until recently. Then, during the Soviet Union years, the level of water decreased. And soon it was possible to get to the monastery without boats.
At first, the monastic complex was only for those monks from Etchmiadzin who had sinned. However, during the years the rule changed. Thus, Sevanavank is now one of the main tourist attractions in Armenia.
Lake Sevan is one of the symbols of Armenia. The Sevan is the largest freshwater lake in the territory. In addition, it is the blue-eyed queen of Armenia. The fresh air and the spectacular scenery give you the chance to have a bird’s eye view and enjoy the moments of life.
