Kecharis Monastery

Kecharis Monastery is the jewel of Tsaghkadzor ski resort town. This is the beloved resort of snowboard and ski lovers who come here to exercise their favourite winter sports, breath the fresh air, and enjoy the slopes of mount Teghenis. Tsaghkadzor isn’t only for professional skiers, you can find trails for all levels of difficulty.

Tsaghkadzor isn’t only a resort town with all its fun. It also houses the medieval period monastery complex built. So if you can’t ski, you can always take the winding path through the resort town to reach to Kecharis complex and indulge in the tranquillity and exceptional spiritual atmosphere existing all around the monastery.

And now some basic facts about the monastery. Pahlavuni prince founded Kecharis in the eleventh century. The construction continued up to the thirteenth century. Gradually it became one of the religious centres of Armenia during the 13-14th centuries. Additionally, higher education developed here providing a lot of Armenian students with the chance to study and make the country prosperous.
