Goris

A peaceful town in the furthest region of Armenia with a rich and unique culture.

The town is located in the valley of the river Goris (or Vararak). Goris is an urban community and the 2nd largest city in the Syunik region. The people of the town are very hospitable and welcome everyone to their houses and nicely arranged gardens. You will be speechless in case of food. It is extremely delicious.

The name ‘Goris’ is supposed to derive from the Indo-European pre-language words “gor” (rock), “es” (to be). The town is famous for the medieval cave-dwellings in the soft rocky mountains where Armenian people have lived for centuries. From here you can easily go to Tatev Monastery, Khndzoresk, and Halidzor. Here you will find an excellent atmosphere to have complete relaxation. You are away from the bustling cities in harmony.

Come and experience local life in a small town with a variety of activities and interests.
