Itinerary

Day 1Monastery Kobayr - Cave Mendz-Er - Odzun - Return to Yerevan

Departure from the hotel. A professional, experienced driver in a comfortable car picks you up from the hotel and your unforgettable journey begins.

Monastery Kobayr. Lost in the forests of the Lori Mountains and hidden under wild vegetation, the Kobayr Monastery looks like a secret portal to another world. This is the world of medieval princely dynasties, the world of eternal struggle for power, the world of luxury and poverty, happiness and bitterness, everything is mixed up here, everything is intertwined, – only Kobayr remained, patiently waiting for the lost travelers to tell them the history and legends of the ancient world.

An interesting fact: despite its dilapidated state, Kobayr Monastery is one of the rarest temples that has preserved most of the frescoes.

Cave Mendz-Er. It’s time to relax and have a delicious meal near the ancient and former inhabited Mendz-Er cave, inside which today a real ethnographic museum is open. The main feature of the restaurant and the cave is their location high above a steep cliff with gorgeous views.

Odzun. Showing off over a deep gorge since the 4th century, but still hiding the secret of its name, Odzun Monastery is ready to receive you and saturate you with unforgettable sensations. Even a person who is completely uninterested in history and religion will not be able to resist the spell of Odzun.

An interesting fact: the monastery complex was built on the site of a pagan temple, which, according to some historians, was dedicated to snake worship.

Return to Yerevan.
