Itinerary

Day 1City-Tour to Gyumri - Museum of Urban Life and Folk Architecture - Harichavank monastery complex

Departure from the hotel. A professional, experienced driver in a comfortable car picks you up from the hotel and your unforgettable journey begins.

City-Tour to Gyumri. Gyumri is the cultural capital of Armenia, home to many talented actors and singers from beloved Armenian films, the places where you will see the creations with your own eyes. Moreover, we will show you the most colorful buildings of the former Alexandropol, which today are included in the Kumayri Architectural Reserve – the cultural center of the city, similar in its architecture to the architecture of the ancient Armenian capital – Kars. The tour starts on the main square of Gyumri – Vardanats Square, where the Church of the Seven Passions of Christ is located, surprising with its architectural features, different not only from the world, but also from the traditional Armenian architecture. All this and much more awaits you during an eventful city tour of the northern Armenian city.

Museum of Urban Life and Folk Architecture in Gyumri. We are going to plunge you even deeper into the world of Gyumri Armenians, bringing you to the most unique museum of its kind, built in the 19th century and collecting all the most important and interesting exhibits that best describe the psychology, life, culture of the Armenians of the city of KumayriGyumri.

An interesting fact: In Gyumri, each craft had its own patron saint and its own flag. The flags were kept inside the workshops, but on holidays they were hung in a conspicuous place.

Harichavank monastery complex. Armenia is a country of churches, for this reason we have the right, having arrived in Marz Shirak (“marz” in Armenian – “region”), not to pay special attention to the extraordinary Harichavank. From the monastery breathes the spirit of antiquity and history. Its architectural elements, among which the umbrella domes, decorative arches, openwork medallions, Armenian niches and window sills stand out, overwhelm the spirit with some incredible inspiration. A separate delight will wash over you at the sight of the royal natural landscapes surrounding the monastery complex.

An interesting fact: In the Shirak region of Armenia, a special red shade of tuff prevails, from which most of the monuments of Christian architecture in the region are built.

Return to Yerevan.
