For a start, head out for a morning bike ride towards Lake Sevan. On top of the hill, Sevanavank monastery is situated. Sevanavank was built by the Armenian Princess Mariam. It is home to the most wonderful Amenaprkich cross-stone (khachkar). It is one of the rarest cross-stones depicting Jesus. Moreover, besides the architectural wonders, breathtaking scenery opens up in front of you. The magical lake takes you to another world.
Next, explore Haghartsin monastery. It is a 13th-century monastery located near the town of Dilijan. According to a legend, an eagle was soaring over the dome of the main building during the church consecration. Thus, it became commonly known as the monastery of the playing (or soaring) eagle (“Hagh” means a game while “Artsin” means eagle in Armenian). Haghartsin is in the middle of the forests. It is the real pearl and queen of the forests.
